God Child
Fog-shrouded Victorian London, England, in the latter half of the 19th century. His father died when he was still a child and the young Cain succeeded to the wealth of the house of Hargreaves and the title of Count. At some point, to console his loneliness, Cain became a collector of perilous poisons. Along with his half-sister Merryweather, daughter of his father and one of the maids, his butler Rif who has served him since he was a child, and Oscar who wants to marry Merryweather, Cain encounters Dr. Jezebel Disraeli, an assassin from the secret society DELILAH. Behind Jezebel and in control of the society is said to be Cain's father 'Alexis' who was presumed dead.

The story up to now is collected in the Cain Series comics- Forgotten Juliet, Sound of a Boy Hatching, Kafka, and Mark of the red Ram 1 & 2. Godchild continues from these.

Cain- a youth of 17 whose birth is shrouded in mystery
Merryweather- 10 years old, Cain's half sister
Rif- Young butler of the Hargreaves household. Has a knowledge of medicine.
Doctor- Evidently the foster son of Cain's father and for that reason hates Cain and keeps constantly after him. Doctor.
