For those unfortunates who've never
seen or read Slam Dunk, Rukawa Kaede (the cute darkhaired guy
in the lower panels) is an extremely talented freshman basketball
player. A lone wolf who keeps his feelings hidden, he never seems
to notice the many girls who are infatuated with him and his
dreamy eyelashes. Foremost among these is the team captain's
younger sister Haruko, an ardent basketball fan who has shyly
admired Rukawa for years.
Sakuragi Hanamichi is also a freshman,
a red-haired delinquent with an enormous heart and a very tiny
brain. He joined the baskeball team solely to impress his dream
girl Haruko but quickly found that he has an unconventional genius
for the sport (hence his frequent boasts about being 'the tensai').
A fierce rivalry breaks out between the two young rising stars,
but the seething Hanamichi can't help feeling that Rukawa is
always one step ahead of him, both on the court and in Haruko's
heart. Sometimes the frustration gets to be too much and his
reactions can be a little...well, a lot...immature. |
